迪奥新广告,又涉嫌歧视……

法国时尚品牌迪奥(Dior)近日再次被指涉嫌种族歧视。据称,该品牌在媒体平台发布了一张照片,照片上是半张亚洲女性的脸,其中眼角被拉起。有人批评称,在国际惯例中,这个提拉眼角的动作代表的是对亚裔的歧视。

French fashion brand Dior again found itself accused of racial discrimination after it allegedly posted a photo of a half face of an Asian woman lifting her eye, which is widely regarded as "slanted eye" pose — a derogatory gesture toward Asians.

尽管迪奥在一阵反对的声音后删除了这张照片,但是此举还是在中国和世界各地网民中引起了巨大争议。

根据网上流传的截图,这张已被删除的照片只显示了亚洲模特的半边脸,两根手指放在眼睛下面,而另一根手指拉起了眼角。

The deleted unnatural photo, according to screenshots circulating online, showed only a half face of the Asian model with her two fingers stuck under her eye and another pulling up the corner of her eye.

有网友表示,迪奥是一家法国公司,其审美标准与中国人不同。但也有人反驳称,模特眯起眼睛的方式实际上反映了西方人如何看待东亚人。

无论如何,这张最新的 " 斜眼 " 照片已再次惹恼众人,许多人呼吁抵制该品牌,称其长期以来都未能表现出对亚洲形象的文化敏感性。

This latest "slanted eye" posture again angered Chinese netizens with many calling for a boycott against the brand, saying its chronic failing to display cultural sensitivity toward Asians won"t change.

去年 7 月,中国汉服爱好者就曾指责迪奥在秋季系列的产品中抄袭了中国传统马面裙的设计,却没有说明灵感来源。海外华人很快也加入了抗议迪奥 " 文化挪用 " 行为的行列。

Last July, Chinese Hanfu ( traditional Chinese costume ) lovers accused the brand of copycatting the design of a traditional Chinese horse face skirt in its fall 2022 collection without clarifying the source of inspiration. Overseas Chinese nationals were quick to join protests against Dior"s "cultural appropriation".

中国传统服饰爱好者表示,欢迎并鼓励包括迪奥在内的时装公司从中国文化中汲取灵感,但这些公司不能抄袭,并声称其为原创产品。

2021 年 11 月,迪奥发布的一张海报更是在中国社交媒体上引起了巨大的争议,并遭到了全球的大规模反对。

海报上的中国模特皮肤黝黑,有雀斑、沉郁的斜眼、浓黑的妆容、长长的人造指甲、清朝盔甲和其他一些很扭曲的元素。

This comes not very long after November 2021, when Dior had faced a global backlash for a poster showing a Chinese model with freckled dark skin, gloomy squinted eyes, heavy dark makeup, long artificial nails, Qing armor and other distorted elements.

因为迪奥先前的这些做法,许多网友称其为 " 惯犯 ",并敦促中国的知名品牌大使与该品牌断绝关系。

Many netizens called Dior "recidivist," urging celebrity Chinese brand ambassadors to break ties with the label.

有网民表示,迪奥从未为其不当行为道歉,而公众的纵容更会加剧这种行为的危害。

中国日报评论称,希望迪奥的这两次事件能提醒其他品牌:展示产品时别再反复挑战亚裔底线了,除非你想尝一尝被抵制的滋味。

Dior"s second case of being insensitive should serve as a reminder to all brands who have shown Asians in a discriminatory way before to never do it again. Unless they want a taste of Asian anger, like Dior twice did.
